  • Vin J cam in a Vin M 3100

Hi, I was wanting to know if you could put a 3100 J cam in a 3100 M engine car without any computer tuning or other modifications.

I have a 98 cutlass 3100 with a broken cam and I was just curious.
    Thanks Steve

      229-2412= .412" lift, 197 duration 96-99 Vin M
      229-2326=.408" lift, 197 duration 2000-2002 Vin J & 3400

The only difference I could find was the lift.

Where did you get those numbers from, for the lift? All numbers I have ever seen were an exact match. (I guess those are aftermarket replacements, judging by the numbers)

V6 - roller cams - Anyone found a roller cam? I've found roller lifters, but no roller cams. If you know of one, post the specs you know please.

Any 3100, 3400, or LX9 3500 can have the cams swapped between them.

This goes for the small port 3100's up through the large port 3100s. The cam sensor notches changed in patterns over the years, but all will work with any year sensor too.
