Ah, pics are working today. That block looks so small in that empty engine bay... But that gives you plenty of room for turbo(s)!

Manifold-back 2.5" SS Mandrel Exhaust. Hardware is SS too.
98+ 4L60E, with the removable bellhousing, and using a 98-02 (???) Camaro V6 bellhousing. Its a 3800, but the bolt pattern is the same. I could have gone with a 700R4, but wanted the controllability (programmability) of the 4L60E.
Looks like she'll be getting a dry sump system after all...
As I mentioned in a different post, I finally got around to dragging one of my old 3100s (yes, I have more than 1) out of the basement of our other house. Tonight, I had some time to start tearing it down some, mainly so I can go get it cleaned up. I'd rather have a nice, clean engine for when I do mockups and articles. Anyway, pulled off the oil pan and decided to locate the oil pump pickup screen. From the end of the block to the end of the screen is ~8.5". Then I decided to measure the pan for the 3500, as it currently sits in the Stang's engine bay. Low and behold, it came out to ~8.5". Perfect, right? Not really... Remember this post...?
So yeah, if I hack any more off of the oil pan, I'm going to be conflicting with the space required for the pickup. I'm sure I could probably alter the pickup some, but the oil capacity is already going to be almost cut in half. Just seems more logical right now to go with a dry sump setup. Perhaps this will make altering the oil pan easier as well...
Dry sump on a 3x00 motor... It will be interesting to see what HP gains you may get from that. "Some say" (<in Jeremey Clarkson voice) it's as good as putting the Stig behind your wheel... LOL
Had some time to mess with the car again this weekend, so I decided to start looking at how to go about doing the engine mounts. Well, since I got the trans crossmember installed, I really only paid attention to how the oil pan was being affected. Today I noticed some more issues...
So yeah, block bosses are WAY off from the K-member mounting spots. There is also the issue with the oil filter location, although I had planned on having a remote filter anyway. The 5th picture is the most interesting one, as it almost appears I could easily make one of Marc's timing covers work quite well to attach the motor to the frame...
i really cant see this being a huge issue, if your going with a solid mount, you sould be able to build something out of DOM and 2 plates of steel. Have you ever notice the difference in block mount boss's on a SBC Vs. LS1?
Say Brad... I was a bit curious about the Dry Sump idea and searched on eBay to see if anybody had any for sale. There are about 11 pages of items related to this topic including tubing, hosing, brackets, SBC Oil Pans ..maybe cut the bottom off and weld it to your hybrid oil pan, collection tanks and a whole assortment of used and new storage tanks that are refugees from NASCAR. It might be worth a look-see if you haven't already gotten all the parts and pieces you need to dry-sump your new "GeMStang"...

So I finally got around to working on the motor mounts. Designed them up and found a local waterjet. Got word today that the parts were ready, so I headed over to pick them up when I got off work at 4pm. Unfortunately for me, they close at 4. So, I will pick them up first thing in the morning and provide pics of the parts. Hope to get a chance to tack them together this weekend, and send them over to a friend to get welded up, since all I have right now is a crappy stick welder. Once the mounts are done, hopefully I can start making more progress on other parts, like the oil pan issue.
