    • I am thinking that what would happen is that the MAF will adjust the injectors to whatever the airflow is through the TB and the Carb will put in the correct air fuel mixture, so combined they will be correct, the computer may even fine tune the injector quanity to make up for any inconsistant carb mixture. • IMO, if you did that, it would be better just to do it all through the injectors due to much better atomization, just use the TB for moving more air, if it can actually do so.

        • Was searching around for custom manifold threads and found this through the google search engine

Interesting yes!! It actually has to be pretty damn close to fitting under a stock hood, but I can't figure out what supercharger it is!! Too short to be either an m62 or even an m45, unless its a custom case, which it very well could be from gm.......
Very similar to my design except plate will be 2 inches thick and incorporate an intercooler......

On a side note, if it is off of the aztek pace car, it could be from the same motor where my doug thorley headers are coming from....

          • most likely an m90 from a tbird or 3.8. They are the most common and cheapest SC afaik, I plan to get two of them eventually......

              • Its an M62. And it would work just fine under the hood of an Aztek/Rendezvous, and probably the vans as well, but no way it would even be close to clearing a hood on a car. Most care have ~1-1.5" between the top of the plenum and the bottom of the hood. The plenum has a ~1/2" mounting plate welded to it, and then the SC is ~4.5" tall, so it would stick out at least 3.5".

Too tall to be an m62, the measurement in the picture shows like 4" and an m62 is 4.9" Maybe his picture is just misleading. I know on the alero, I measured 3 5/8" between the hood and the top of the manifold. This is with the engine covering so you could maybe squeeze another 1/2" or 1" which assuming his measurments are off and really it is 4.9" then yes it would sickout of the hood 2-3"

                  • it is definetly from a t-bird, and that BOV is pretty clever use of the stock intake opening.

                    • it's an M62, not a very good design though, to tall and bulky...

the pic isn't straight on, it's at an angle so it looks shorter than it is.

true, and it does look like the aztek pace car setup, which was an m62, 2001 so probably a series 4 m62..

Run the carb totally closed until you run out of TB opening, then start opening up the carb, sort of like flipping the switch on a Nitrous system. Upper intakes are dirt cheap and so are 2 barrel carbs. Larry

Unless the engine is pulling a vacuum at WOT the stock TB is flowing plenty to support the flow needs of the top end. Your modification would do absolutely nothing for performance.

                              • Yea thats dumb. Its not like it is hard to install a big enough TB to meet the needs of any engine.
