Brake clean rocks for lots of stuff. I love it when the parts store has the buy one get one free sale going on. I keep a small stock of it on my shelf because of how useful that stuff is. Just don't use it if you have a salamander going on your garage like me. Brake clean fumes + salamander = not being able to breathe too well... :/ That said I try to clean what I need to with it last before I go in the house for the night so I don't have to deal with that, lol.

I haven't tried it on any engine parts yet but i did use it before anodizing aluminum, regular Lye drain cleaner in water. just a little bit of the cleaner in 32oz of water cleaned the hell out of the parts i was going to anodize. the bubbling and fizzing was a little scary though...
