  • LR2 2.8 questions

So while visiting my old work, my old boss gave me a lower mileage 2.8 RWD out of a jeep.Mint condition. (had a knock, but turned out to be a broken flywheel and replaced it anyway). He also gave a 3400 LIM and Upper.

So a few Q's. Ive searched that there flat-top engines. So what is the Compression ratio with 3400 heads? Which headgaskets?

With a healthy cam and tune, how would it compare to a 3.4/3500 I got on the stand already?

Basically wondering how they would compare to each other. Zippier 2.8 or better headed + cubes 3.4...

Going into a paperweight 5 speed minitruck FYI.

the 3.4/3500 will make more power.

There is no comparison. Your engine on the stand will kill it. If it was from a Jeep its carb'd and has small valve heads and low compression and a wimpy cam possibly the small journal crank too. 3400 UIM and LIM are also useless on an iron head motor. But save them for something in the future.

If you want the engine to drop it into a descent old mini truck or something it will definitely outperform and old Toyata or Nissan 4 banger.

I was thinking of using the 3400 2000+ heads with the upper and lower manifolds, not iron heads. on the 2.8

Just wondering what kind of power a build like that would give. IIRC its over 12:1 (from a ancient thread I searched).

I guess ill stick with what I started. Maybe sell it or something.
