  • 3.1l mpfi performance help?

Whats up i have a 93 cutlass supreme. I was woundering what parts to put in it. I looked up some cams. Lifters and rockers

comp cams was one for a 2.8l Would that fir my 3.1? and i found the high energy hydrolic lifters, said it fits 90 degree v6 would that fit in im assuming it is universal.

and a narrow body alum rockers says 87 and up with a 3/8 stud and 1.5 ratio? and i would need to know if it's self aligning or not?

If someone already has a 3.1l built what set up did you use could you tell me if possible?

and how much power would i be looking at if i did all that i mentioned.

The 3.1 cam will fit your engine, however, the lifters from the 90 degree v6 wont (hence 60 degree v6) IIRC there ARE high energy lifters for the 60 degree v6, but what I am sure of is that a lot of cam kits come with the suited lifters. As for rockers I cant help you there...

You can buy my motor and do what you want to it. It's a 3.1 with some work already done to it.

Race cam??? You do realize that race cams are called race cams because they belong on the track right???

If you really want to crack the engine open, then find yourself a nice set of 3400 or equivalent heads. Theyll be worth much more than a race cam on a stock engine, and you may more than likely spend more than 3400 heads worth on a "race" cam.

Im not bashing, but anytime you want to modify an engine you gotta build it according to what youre gonna use it for. A race cam on a street car is a definite no no. Especially on an otherwise stock engine.

You need a top end that flows well otherwise a larger cam is a waste of money.

I was planning on useing it strictly for the track.

the hybrid swap alone will cost me 1200. And I don't feel like paying 1200dollars for 35hp.. I've attempted to buy a l67 and got screwed out of that by some jackass. now i just want to make my slow 3.1 a little faster

You should be able to find a complete 3400 for about $300-$400 and it's a very easy swap.

Newer engine, about 40 more horsepower and other than the LIM issue which you should do anyway while the engine is out, it's a much better option over an antiquated 3.1
