Ya I know it is a hall effect sensor so dirt shouldn't really matter much - I just worry lol.

Well sir, I will be learning from your issue! I'm assuming the blue loctite will be good enough. I usually reserve the red for things I never want coming off.

The CPS location is pretty much fixed but there is a slight amount of play. I always recommend a gap of .020~.040 with a preference of closer being best to get the max signal strength.

The ECM really doesn't know what the actual timing is. It just advances/retards based on the program and assumes the base timing never changes. It will deviate from the programmed values if knock is encountered.

Only dirt to worry about would be like brake dust - metal shavings. but if you think about it the ABS sensors get COVERED in that crap on my car and don't malfunction. The CPS shouldn't pick up any metal dust where it's at really. Unless you don't have the side splash guards maybe and have a TON of brake dust?? LOL...

Fixed position seems logical. If you want to adjust timing, tune the PCM ...

I found road tar and chunks of asphalt stuck all up on my timing cover/pan/subframe last time I did my oil change. The roads here suck!

Do you have the plastic splash guard in the wheel well where it hides the motors crank pulley/etc?

I think maybe only the newer cars got them. Mine has one, but older cars I've seen either lack them or they were lost...

I have the shields in place, but they can only do soo much. You have to understand how they patch holes around here. They just slop the filler in the hole and move onto the next hole. They dont pack it down. They let the cars run it over to do that.

I'll be looking to replace mine. The one by the crank pulley is mostly gone.

I signed up for that fileden site just to see the drawings. LOL I then proceeded to look at their forums when I couldn't download anything. Turns out that the site is down and noone knows when it'll be back up.

I also have had this on my 3500 beretta for a long time. VERY NICE peice.

However, mine also came loose. Loctite fixed the issue however. Also, on 92+ berettas, you need to use 2 washers(provided) on the top bolt hole.
