  • Will These Fuel Injectors Work...?

Not being in "tune" with any of the performance aspects of "tuning" at all ...and with the certain knowledge that the 93-95 VIN "S" 3.4L PCM-ECMs are not subject to adjustment, I've stumbled across a set of Rochester Multech Fuel Injectors for the 1996 Chevrolet Lumina (17109826) that have a slightly greater PPH rating than the stock 93-95 Camaro-Firebird version (17103007) that are only rated with a 0.025 PPH difference according to "Stan's Online EFI Chart Listings".

I'm curious to know whether the Lumina EFI set would work to make up the difference in the increased airflow this engine will experience from using a Modified Throttle Body and hogged out UIM (both port matched from the stock size of 52mm to 55mm) The attached image of their comparison chart shows that in all other respects...these two sets of injectors are damn near identical. The only other performance parts/conditions in this engine that might factor into whatever is relevant to your answer(s) are the following things:

    1- .030" cylinder boring (0.75mm) w/ new o/s pistons
    2- COMPCam 260H Camashaft
    3- COMPCam Valve Springs/Keepers, etc.
4- COMPCam Roller Tipped Rocker Arms (1.52/1)
5- Cloyes "TRUE ROLLER" Timing Set
    6- 55mm Modified Throttle Body
    7- 55mm Port Matched UIM
    8- Stage Three Air Filtration
9- Pacesetter Headers (Ceramic Coated -Fiberglas Wrapped)

This motor has been built from 1995 Pontiac Firebird 3.4L and will be at home in a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro as a Daily Driver with only a modest expectation of any HP boost from this re-build and parts upgrade. Will the Lumina EFIs make enough of a difference to bother with installing... or will the PCM overcome this slightly improved engine's hunger for more fuel and air with the stock EFIs? Thanks in advance for any and all replies. (See attached EFI excerpt for comparative data)

i think you'll be fine with the stockers.... you're still dealing with the iron heads, so whatever gains you make by porting the intakes and the TB, thats still going to be a major restriction.

I'll run them through their cleaning up paces on "The Frankinjector" Machine...and try them out. Thanks, Robert... I was just thinking that with the increased cubic inch displacement that the slightly more productive 96' Lumina EFIs might make a bit of difference, however slight. Can the "fixed" PCM-ECM in the 93-95 Camaro-Firebird Carline Series adapt at all to injectors even slightly larger in PPH delivery than the stock ones at 17.7 PPH?
