  • Full roller rockers 3400!!!!!

I took this under my own accord, since I live roughly next door to Harland Sharp Rockers.

    My letter to them.

    From: Andrew Homolak

    To: tech@harlandsharp.com

    Subject: custom rockers

I have an unpopular motor that I would like to run a set of your rockers on. It is a Chevy 3400 from a 2004 Olds Alero. Would prefer full roller fulcrum and tip like your other rockers, 1.7 ratio, and capable of .650" of lift. I realize that this is or could be a a single run off job and completely custom. I couldn't guarantee you that more sets would sell but I do know several people that would also pitch in for a set of their own, possibly a group buy. We have been waiting patiently for someone to make them, scorpion rockers claimed to be building them, but its been 2 years of them claiming and we've seen nothing but empty promises. I find this hard to believe that they can't even pull up a single set. It's not that hard to make a product match to something already existing. If you need a stock set I can send you several of them for dimensions and pedestal design, i even have extra sets of heads I could give you. Best part is, I live in Parma, Ohio, so I'm local to you too.

Please give me an idea if this is feasible, roughly how much to make a set of 12, and how long the wait will be. I'm trying to get my build done for next spring and need to time everything. I would need your rockers to complete my piston design, JE needs 6-8 weeks to turn them out for me, and then Victory Engines to get it balanced, built, and tuned for april 2010.

    Thank you,

    Andrew Homolak

    And the Response:

    Andrew,

I would be interested in looking at this application. If you want to bring the heads and rocker assembly by the shop I will take a good look at it and get something going.

Small problem. I didn't expect him to respond so quickly. Anyone got a junk 3400/3500 head laying around and 1 rocker and pedestal? I was planing on giving him my stocker 3400 head and a rocker from that when i bought the 3500 heads or motor, in a few weeks. I know harland, I've dealt with harland before. I ran their rockers in my W-31. And when I had a mill blow all over I needed a new set, summit was out of stock, harland built me a set in 48hrs! And that was an Oldsmobile, unpopular! So this ain't no BS, Harland will turn out a set in weeks, it will be high quality, I'm geussing around $400, thats what the Olds sets cost when they first started making them.

So I need a junk 3400/3500 head, 1 rocker and pedestal, and a count of how many people want them and can afford them! No offense ment, But I ain't going before this man, telling him I got 30 sets sold, and then only 3 cough up cash. So, if you got $400+ and you want 'em, we'll start there.

sigpicHow to make High performance Emissions:
A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

You should also get him a lower intake cause there isn't much clearance there...

Yes, he will definitely need a lower intake and a set of gaskets as well for clearance. Really it would be best if he could see them installed on an engine but...

I know I have a set of heads and stock rockers. I'm not sure about springs and retainers, but I know the heads don't have valves in them. They will need all that too... basically they need a fully assembled cylinder head because different rockers on the head are close to the lower intake at different points due to the splayed valve design.

I don't believe in the corporate world of schedule a meeting for a meeting to discuss when to have a meeting. So that being said, I also don't want "good" gear. IDK if I will get it back in same condition, I will pay shipping it to me.

I may not get a set right away, but if they are willing I'll broker the deal and get it done. Which means, a full head, one bank, with rockers, a lower intake and a valve cover, with gasket, please de-funk it before shipping. and a few bolt to hold it together.

If anyone has and is willing, then contact me for shipping info, I can give ya my address then. IDK shipping costs so don't ask. Also, I'm off on thursdays, so I would like to meet with this guy by next thursday, 1 week from today. Because I want a product by mid Oct. Like I said, I don't screw around.
              Let me know.

I may be able to get you everything. I just need to get over to the other house to get it all. And I'm not sure when I will be able to do that. Possibly Monday, but then getting it to Ohio by Thursday would cost a ton. Ben or Marc (CNCguy) probably have something, and both are relatively close to you.

What is their min order? I think it would be wise to see the investment needed before you ship them parts.

x2. I would ask them what a minimum order would be when you stop by to visit them or just shoot another email reply.

I won't be shipping them parts, I'll be hand delivering them and meeting with them in person. Like I said, if someone has the gear, preferably junk thats only good enough to get measurements off of, I'll pay shipping. I was planing on using my own 3400 motor, But I also wasn't expecting them to jump this quick. I figured if Scorpion took 2 years Harland would at least take 2 months.

They are prepared to do a single set of 12 if required. No, I don't have any prices yet.

All I have are some small port 3100 parts. If you don't come up with anything, I may be able to borrow some parts from my neighbor. Don't know how close you are but I am in Dayton.
