would tuning a 3400 have any benifit, or would it be a waste of time and money

  • #2
no motor comes from the factory perfectly tuned....

just depends on how much of a difference you consider worth your time/money.
1995 Monte Carlo LS 3100, 4T60E...for now, future plans include driving it until the wheels fall off!

all of those are possible, depending on how its running now. got any way of scanning/logging it?

if the oil still looks new after 2500 miles, one of two things are happening.

the oil isn't cleaning the engine like its supposed to

                or

it is just running absolutely perfect.....

as it should because oil picks up the moisture and contaminants that get produced by combustion....

so if someone ever tells you their oil comes out as clean as it goes in, you know something wrong is going on....

EDIT: isaac, most of my miles are at 55mph or above with little throttle, but occasionally they get exercised. seems to darken up on me as it should.

to be exact after 1000 it still looks new after 2000 its discolored but still very clean and at 3000 it is just turning brown. not bad for a 110k car

since we're talking about it: Pennzoil FTMFW!

jake: that sounds about right. the monte owner's manual states that it can go 7500 in normal conditions, so i'm sure a newer 3400 can pull off the same.
