i'm not sure if that is a 0D, but the 93 PCM is a E6, which i just happened to have made a XDF for in the last two weeks or so. the hack was VERY well documented and it took me a solid 4 days for the XDF...

i also have a ridiculously detailed 0D XDF, but i didn't make it.

Is the 16197427 a direct swap for the '7747 and '8062?

I did a little googling, looks doable. I'll bring in a '7427 and solder in a socket, and figure out what it takes to re-pin my harness.

I think I've had a breakthrough. Seems the EST bypass of the DIS works opposite of how it did with the distributor. The times I was driving it before, the bypass circuit was CLOSED. Before, that meant that EST was NOT being bypassed, now it means that it is.

I had the timing light on with the circuit closed and revved the engine, the timing was rock solid, no advancement. When I opened the circuit, the timing smoothly advanced with the revs as it should. I did a very brief test drive, and the knock was gone. I think I might need to tweak the initial advance a touch, but we're well on our way.

But now the ECU is giving me a CEL because the EST is bypassed, even though it really isn't.

I'm having issue with it dying when I clutch it. It doesn't die all the time, but the revs will drop way low. Is there any way to verify the correct operation of the EST? I just know that my timing is dead solid with the connector plugged in, and it advances smoothly with the bypass disconnected. Is it advancing correctly? I don't know.

could be throttle follower issues for that problem.

No, I just got ahead of myself again. The DIS is not working properly, it's just more drivable on bypass. It's been snowing today, I think my little car will have a tough time getting around now. I'm going to reconnect the distributor this evening so I can drive it again.

Perhaps a stupid question now, but should the ESC module still be used with DIS?

the knock filter? that should be fine. it's set up by bore size and type of valvetrain, neither of which have been changed between the DIS and dizzy setups, right?

Well, the bore size has changed since I swapped the engine, but not since I switched to DIS.

then i would say since the problem is only present with the DIS setup, i would say the filter is fine.

There are only five wires coming off that thing (other than 12v+, GND, and crank sensor pair), those are:

                            PPL/WHT - EST Ref Hi
                            BLK/RED - EST Ref Lo
                            TAN/BLK - EST Bypass
                            WHT - Tach
                            WHT - EST Control

I'm sure I have the white is right, because my tach works and I traced it on a DIS harness.

I just don't get what the issue is...

I found the $0D BIN for a 4.3L 5-speed, just downloaded everything off moates and checked for the manual tranny switch. The only one I found is BJFD.

[edit: Double checked the wiring, it is correct. I'll try another ICM...]

Tried another ICM, same thing. The timing doesn't move with the bypass closed. Revs up and otherwise runs great, until the engine is put under load...
