CPS question

I am nearing the end of my RWD 3x00 build. Just tying up some loose ends...one of which is a question I have about the CPS.
The problem I am having is, that the timing wheel is a little smaller than my harmonic balancer and when I put the CPS in place, the plastic on the side of the sensor rubs the balancer a little.
So is it ok to grind a little bit of the plastic off of the sensors side? All I would need to take off is 1/16th of an inch (give or take)...its not much at all.

the shell is pretty thin, how much space do you have between the metal pickup and the wheel?

Im using a modified TCE wheel setup.The gap between the wheel and pickup is the same as it was designed to be. The pickup is lined up correctly and straight...but it barely rests on the balancer. I just didn't know if I could round off the edge slightly.

correct me if im missing something or mis informed but dosent the wheel go on the outside of the balancer? i know it does on my 3500? idk

Can't you just put a washer underneath the screw that holds down the sensor?

I could, but I don't know how far away the pickup can be from the wheel.

his is RWD, the setup is different.


you can be around .040" and get a decent signal still but if you have a spare CPS then i'd just shave it and see what happens.

Not the best pic but it gives you an idea how much can come off. I have never tried taking more off to see where the limit is.

^^ Thanks that should be plenty. It just barely touches so I just need to take off just enough to keep it from rubbing. Ill put up some pics in my old build thread soon...I haven't posted anything here in a while
