  • Header gaskets?

Will the header gaskets for the 3500 for sale at WOT work with any headers?

GM wants to sell you the steel ones with the heat shields.

I'm in a bind and can't find gaskets to fix this annoying leak. The S&S site is no friggen help.

    Thanx

    Eric,
I really couldn't say whether they would fit or not. They were designed for our header flanges but may fit others.

Ok but the bolt pattern and the port size is the same.

      Am I missing something here.

The S&S flanges are flat, so unless yours has an insert or something wouldn't they work.

I'm sick of this header leak, and of course it's on the rear where it's a PITA!!

Bolt pattern is the same and I assume they would work for you but not 100% sure as I have no idea how wide the flange is around your headers.

I use the stock 3400 gaskets, just took some tin snips to make them clear the header flanges.

I did this also, Never had a problem at all. Despite what some say, GM does do some things right.

The S&S headers aren't too wide for the ports from what I have seen in pics.

                  Ok thanx folks.

The GM metal gasket does look pretty well thought out.

I'll trim it up and try it.

The WOT ones are Plan B 'cause I'm sick of leaking headers!

Have a look at these images on the "REMFLEX" gaskets...If I'm not mistaken, they have a set for the 3400/3500 series engines and if leaks and followup tightening are an issue...these babies will make all those problems disappear. The other recommendation I can make is that if you are looking for the best set of header bolts around...try the ARP Bolts being sold for the clutch pressure plate on the Honda Civic...they are super-strong, come with conical hardened washers, if you want to use them.. .and they measure exactly the proper head and metric thread size... and their depth is a perfect 25mms in length, too.

I posted the ARP images in this thread:

...and the REMFLEX gasket images are here...
