  • Anyone have a list of performance parts vendors?

I have a 92 S10 with the 2.8 TBI engine and I don't want to swap an 8 in like everyone else I am trying to build the engine. I cannot for the life of me find any place that sells performance parts for this motor.

Some help would be greatly appreciated.

aftermarket parts are virtually non-existant for the 2.8.

you either have to make do with what you have, WOT-Tech or swap to a more supported motor.

he means you cant go get an edelbrock manifold and swap in on :P
but you can get cams for them, prolly put 1.6 rollers on there with some work
      make-your-own-headers
      port it properly
      exhaust
      higher fdr? rear end dunno
      re-tune
      etc..

got to put some elbow grease into it

Well I found the 3.1 stroker kit and the cam and rr's but I couldn't find anything like heads or intake manifolds as you said.

With the right porting done to the intake as well as the heads with the stroker kit , cam and rr's would I pass the 150hp mark?

Should be able to do it.

I've been playing with Desktop Dyno 2003 on a iron head 3.1. Using approximately stock head flow, a 2030 cam with 1.6 rockers and the stock 52mm throttle body, the program calculated the following power and torque:

Not much point in revving the engine past 5500 rpm but does show + 32 ft-lb peak torque and +20 HP peak power compared to the fuel injected 2.8.

I just figured I would do something different then a V8 swap and since I have two 2.8 engines and two 5 speeds for those engines and an extra stock rear end, I might as well keep all the factory components, just build them up.

I know people with machine shops, I know people who can weld up some headers so maybe I might just stick with the little 2.8.

You can turn a 2.8L into a 3.1L very easily. All you need is the 3.1L Crank and Pistons. With a .040" Overbore you have yourself a 3.2L

There is a ton of cams Available http://members.shaw.ca/betterthanyou...haft_guide.htm

There is also a ton of rocker arm choices out there. I believe COMP has the best deal going with there Roller Tip Magnum rockers which are about $120 for the set.

Since you have TBI the best option is a stock intake bored out to take a 4.3L throttle body. If you don't have the means to do this I can sell you one.

              Hedman and Edelbrock sell headers

www.tbichips.com can burn you a chip after all your mods are done.

Thanks betterthanyou! I appreciate the help, looks like I might have a tiny little 2.8 monster to play with soon!

If you want a monster then toss on a 3400 top end, headers, 260 cam and convert the thing over to DIS.. you could make 200 HP easy and great torque. It's a little more work though.

Well at first I might just build the 2.8 I have sitting around to be a bit more mild. Once that's in I have tons of time to have fun with the pepped up 2.8 and continue to build my other one to be even stronger.

despite what was previously said there are a crapload of performance parts for the iron head engines.. just don't expect a miracle when it comes to power.

Edelbrock sells 2 different intake manifolds: http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...ormer-v6.shtml

All the flat tappet cams that Betterthanyou posted, Headers, and there even was a roots blower kit for the S10/S15.

There is no point on wasting your money. The stock TBI manifold is fine. Just bore it out to fit a 4.3L throttle body and clean up some of the casting flash.
