In the thread linked by the OP to LS1 site it is stated quite clearly...
E85 requires 39% more fuel to reach stoich even if that is not what you may come up with when doing calculations based on the table below. This is because the injector flow is slightly different when using E85 among many other things I canīt really think of at this time (will be added at a later time).
And then at the end...
So let me tell you guys about the fuel prices here in Sweden.
98 octane gasoline cost 12sek/L = $1.68/L = $6.36/gallon.
And 104 octane E85 cost 8sek/L = $1.12/L = $4.24/gallon.

It was stated years ago that due to the energy content a gallon of gasoline produces more miles than a gallon of ethanol in the same car. In other words you are effectively paying more per mile with ethanol tainted fuel. Given the nature of a capitalist society and the benefits to be had by the lobbyist due to the ignorance of our law makers about the subject and the way the stock market works under the influence of futures and derivatives, the true purpose of ethanol mixed fuel was probably long lost before it was put on the market.
If it were all it was cracked up to be you would think the EPA would not be as persistent as they are being with emmissions restrictions as the incorporation of ethanol would have made a big improvement right?
I imagine we all can gain some improvement with the new fuel over what stock specs can provide if we take advantage of the increased detonation resistance by increasing the compression ratio. Perhaps that has more to do with why the newer engines flex fuel or not are running higher static compression ratios instead of tech advances, because of the scarcity of pure gasoline.

I am all for this E85 in the 60degree running a forced induction.
burns cleaner than all petro
cheap race gas
Most of our cars can handle it already handle it with minor changes.
less dependency on foreign.
I run E85 in my 89 Turbo Voyager.
There will be other ways in future other than corn. Brazil uses cane sugar for instance.
