sorry for the "newb" question but i havent found a difinetive awnser searching. wat is the maxx horse that stock 3500 internals could handle. i figure forged rods and crank would hold up well but pistions and timing chain.... i was thinkin boost wise i know theres a lot of exeptions and such with awsome tunes and wat not but like 300hp? more? less? any imput would be greatly appreciated. thanx

The 3400 has made over 300 WHP with turbo and stock everything, so the 3500 can do that at least I'm sure without breaking.

A semi-local (200mi away) was able to get 340hp N/A with a highly modified 3.4/3400 with custom ITB's and open headers, but the block split down the valley running in a Midget car and 6500 RPM limit. He bought a 3500 block from me and learned about the 3500 heads at the same time, so I would love to see what the future brings on that.

There is a guy here who broke into 10's with an X car, and stretched the Gen 1 (Gen2) mains with 450hp.

i was curious as to what anyone thinks my power will be at once i get this thing tuned good. dave, i know you'll probably have a pretty good idea since you've been working with me on the tuning.ENGINE HAS INTERNAL DAMAGE. THIS MOTOR WILL BE TAKEN OUT OF THE FIERO AND REPAIRED IN TIME. UNTIL THEN, A L67 WILL RESIDE IN ITS PLACE
87 fiero gt 5spd 3500, 1280 cam and PR, ls6 valve springs, port and polished heads, ported lim, ported uim, 4.3 70mm tb, ported trueleo headers and y pipe, 2.5 inch ex, flowtech muff, 7730 ecm, moates.net APU1, self tuning *learning* (GOT FROM MY BROTHER, divorce reasons.)

Neither. 3.4L RWD Iron head motor, with flat tappet cam. Found in camaros. It is a Gen1 V6, the 3400 is gen 3. The one that split there was the 3.4 iron head block, with 3400 aluminum heads bolted on to it for more power... 3400 has crossbolted mains and much more modern design.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

It's simply amazing how the 3500 reacts to a good cam and a good intake/exhaust setup.

Another 3500 Jbody swap, bone stock engine using 2.8 log manifolds with i think just 2.25" exhaust and a cone filter running on a tune for a 3400 with 00+ injectors and FPR put down like 205 WHP after we bumped up the fuel pressure to 65 lbs.
Everyone was down on power last Friday, i dyno'd about 20 HP less than last year on the same exact tune. The other guys were all down from the years before as well.
It was hot and humid..
