  • 3400 heads on a 2.8

Will the bigger valves of the 3400 head with Combustion Chamber Volume of 28.6 hit the cylinder walls of a 2.8 block...

oh other side question: Are the vavles on the 3100 the same size as the 3400, and why is the Combustion Chamber Volume of the 3400 28.6 diffrent from the 3100 at 24.6?

26.4 combustion chamber volume of the small port 3100 matches the volume of the Gen 2 heads. The difference I can see between Gen 2 heads and '00 3400 heads is the 3400 valves are concave, the older valves were flat faced. I'm assuming that is the difference. the 3400 heads and large port 3100 heads are the same and the 3100 shares the bore of the 2.8, just a different stroke. From what I understand you can use the large port 3x00 valves in the small port and Gen 2 heads if you have a valve job done to match the new valves.

The valves are concave on the faces of all the valves on all the motors. The slightly larger valves wont hit the 3.1L/2.8L bore the difference is just not that big.
