  • RSM underdrive pully

I just found out that RSM racing is now offering a underdrive pully for the 3100 and the 3400! there claining to be the lightest on the market
(at 12oz)! Well I just thought every one would like to know! I'm looking into it, or the one from FFP. the ffp is 105 shipped, the RSM is 149 + shipping. thats a big difference for that gains you might make from the waight savings. does anyone know how much the FFP pully weights? if so let me know! thanks

one pound lighter is NOT going to add any HP. The RSM pulley also looks to be larger in diameter than the FFP pulley, which will add LESS HP. I would first find out what size theirs is.

The FFP pulley is a very well made piece, and it is a pretty beefy billet aluminum pulley. If the RSM pulley is less than half the weight, I would be concerned about its strength. Sometimes lighter is not always better. The biggest power gain comes from driving the accesories slower, not from the lower rotating inertia of the pulley/damper.

It isn't an underdrive. Its stock diameter. It was discussed over on GAGT and MyMonte.

Thanks Brad. Well, just being lighter weight isnt going to addy any HP. I dropped about 15 lbs with an aluminum fly wheel and didnt notice much. A few pounds on a much smaller diameter will be even less noticeable.

Well, if they're calling it an underdrive pulley and it's stock diameter, someone ought to sue the pants off them for false advertising.

just got a reply from RSM, here is what they said

We sell the stock size lightened pulley or 1" smaller than stock.

but I don't know how much reduction 1 inch is, I'll try calling tomorrow to see!

but they do sell one that's smaller!

also RPM motor sports sells one, but it's not alumnium!

do you have a link for rpm motor sports? I've never heard of that.

If the RSM one is one inch smaller than stock then its about the same size as the FFP one.
