I'm new to this site, i have a 2000 grand am se2 4 door sedan with a completly stock 3.4l w/ about 121,--- miles, i picked up a universal nx nitrous kit for fuel injection, what shot should i run just for a little extra kick with out ruining the motor completly. (planning a rebuild end of the summer) any ideas or helpful hints are appriciated.

wet being the key word there, and make sure you run way too much fuel compared to nitrous, that's a hell of a lot safer, then lean it out after you know what you're doing.

i laugh at all the imports runnning dry shots of nitrous... i guess thats the funnest way to weld the rings to your cylinder walls.

      *whoooooooosh*, BANG!

"yo dog, it won't start, i don't know why???"

"maybe you hit the button too early?"

"Yea, Boi, next time i'll wait until 8000RPM"

"maybe its time to call mom and see if i can borrow the caravan for a little while?"

one of the best ways to tune for NOS, install an EGT gauge. Watch your readings, she gets too hot, add more fuel. you get more bang from more dope, when the exhaust comes up again, add more fuel, keep jetting up till the motor goes BOOM!, then jet back 1 size and your dead on balls accurate!

on a serious note, yes start small, stay wet, and still get the EGT gauge. it'll let you tune the NOS without slagging pistons, keep your temps under 1400.

OH! and talk to ben about a adjustable FPR.
sigpicHow to make High performance Emissions:
A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

with this kit there is a nozzle that i'm told gets threaded in about 6 inches before the throattle plate, nozzle has gas and nitrous, i'm used to building small block chevys that don't need nitrous so this is all new to me. thanks for all the help and jokes! lol

before the throttle? it would make much more sense to have it after the throttle, ideally as close to the intake valve as possible(direct port). i've seen throttle body spacers that, if tapped, would work great for adding nitrous. that way when you decide you don't want it anymore or are selling it or whatever, you can just remove the spacer/adapter...

another thing: nitrous needs timing pulled back or else you'll need a LOT more fuel than you would otherwise. colder plugs would also help, but i'm not sure if they are necessary...

how do u retard the timing, computer chip? what plugs would work best, i'm not planning on spraying all the time so i want it run even with out the nitrous.

he's right about the timing too. you can get a timing retard knob that will wire in at the ICM. then run a few times and find your sweet spot, watch your datalogger for knock, it's a bit of a pain. as far as plugs, yes colder, drop 1-2 heat ranges, and I would go up to platinums or even iridiums, but I've never had a problem on GM with "spark blow-out". you might want to drop the gap on the plugs -.004" too. and um...do the gap right, don't try and force a coin gapper in there, you'll destroy the wire tip of top-end plugs.

otherwise, i would highly recommend a chip and then you can join the boat I'm in and figure out how to tune the damn thing. :P

those plugs should work fine, i'd still tighten up the gap on them tho.

I went looking for the retard control we used and didn't see it. Contact summitracing tech 9-5 EST m-f. They should be able to help you.
800-230-3030 ask for their tech number.

oops, i just read up and noticed your OBD2. No chip for you, you need to reflash, i don't even think they have a retard knob for you either.

now your way out of my area that i'm trying to learn, programming.

Thats more Rob and ben and brad........any takers?
