IIRC... The CPS signal goes directly to the ECM and the ECM sends a signal to the coils. Same setup on the LZ engines and the new Chinese 3400s. Different CPS signals but the same concept.

3.1mpfi etc ICM and coils are same thing as 3100/3400 ... so if you have those...
Edit:, you probably had a iron head engine with a dizzy.. nevermind...

yea, i printed out wiring diagrams of the 04 malibu, the CPS goes directly to the ecu, then theres 2 "data" lines that come from the ecu to the coils.. then a line

Holy cow, the 2009 equinox 3400 has a 77mm TB now instead of 65mm!

No, its ETC (drive by wire) like pretty much all the new GM motors now. I don't think GM has a single cable driven engine anymore. The 2009 intake has been modified to the larger bore too. Plus that upper intake even the 65mm 2005-2008 ones won't clear most hoods as the TB neck goes right on top of the center of it. Strange they still list the engine as 185hp... How can a LA1 3400 with a 56mm TB make the same power as one with a 77mm TB... LOL why do they need that large of a TB?? Strange....

77mm does sound a bit large over the 56mm cable TB, does it open fully? maybe its designed to only open like 70% or something?

Who knows. The 65mm ETC one opens fully. I would say it would because the document mentioned the intake manifold was modified to 77mm as well. If it didn't open all the way they wouldn't bother with that.
