  • 3.1-vs-3100

    just wondering what the differences between the 3.1(gen2) and 3100 block besides the roller cam .
    and what the power differences would be building a motor with the same heads and intakes(gen 3) aprox. same cam specs .i think that the 3.1 and 3x00 use the same crank and rods right ?

    3100 sounds cooler? i don't know exactly, but i think most if not all of what you said was right.

    and the 3100 does have a better oiling system, thats the only one you didn't mention that i could think of...
    1995 Monte Carlo LS 3100, 4T60E...for now, future plans include driving it until the wheels fall off!

        that works too.

        it mentions MAF in 93, did the 93 cuttys with 3100 use MAF? i know the 94-95 w-bodies with 3100 used SD...
        1995 Monte Carlo LS 3100, 4T60E...for now, future plans include driving it until the wheels fall off!

          Yes, the 93 Cutty and then the 94-96(?) A-bodies used MAF. They also used the PROM based PCM. The MAF for those engines is integral with the TB.

            ive seen that like 10 times but mustve got caught up in something else (when im on the net im on like 10 different pages at a time) each time & just not scrolled down, thats an excellent resource-as always.
