  • Plugged EGR passage

I am currently doing the intake manifold gaskets on my 95 3100. In the upper intake (stock 95 3100 small port) the passage to the egr valve is completely plugged up. Carb cleaner doesn't even touch it, and I can only stick a screw driver so far being that its at an angle. Anyone have some advice on how to clean this out? I thought dremel tool but even with the bendable attachment it will not fit into the passage.

Purple Power. Available at most autoparts store and most walmarts. Soak it. There is also another product called "Engine Brite" made by a company called "Gunk". There is the Gel version and another one as I refer to it as "regular". I get better results with the Regular spray than the Gel. However, I keep both handy and the the spray will prbably work best in your sitution if you leave it to in there for a while.

Air Compressor also comes in handy.

Some people use the wire from a cheap coat-hanger to punch through and scrape it out.

Torch it and it will clean out much easier.
