  • Lifter Preload??

I'm getting ready to toss the cam and lifters in my 2.8. Lifters are here, cam should arrive early next week. I went with comp lifters, and according to the paperwork included with the lifters it say the preload is 0.002-0.004" (hot). From what I've found/read I thought the preload was much higher, like 0.020-0.040" and higher than that in some cases. Questions:

Should I go with the preload recommended by the lifters or the factory spec?

Is the factory preload really 0.020 to 0.040, or is higher like I've heard mentioned?

Yea it should be .020 to .040 preload. 1 turn on factory studs and 1/2 or 3/4 on aftermarket 3/8" studs. .003 to .004 is hardly anything. The hydraulic plunger would be pushing against its stop the whole time possibly even breaking it.
