My car has never had dexcool in it's whole life. I've replaced the LIMG 3 times on my car. First time the plastic fell apart like ashes. It was destroyed from heat. The plastic was warped away from the silicone inserts and was leaking like crazy. Even the intake ports were leaking and rotted.

I replaced with a felpro gasket. Torqued right. Lasted a few years before it started seeping outside the motor this time. Replaced with the dealership gaskets. Then went to do a big port intake swap and went with the metal Felpro. Guess what I found when I took off the GM gaskets? More warping/separating of the plastic from the silicone rubber parts. They were not cracked from over torque, or wrong torque sequence. I used thread locker every time and cleaned the bolts/etc BTW.

I'm sick of the plastic that warps with heat, or gets brittle with heat and age. I'm done with it.

My coolant system is not neglected, and has never had dexcool that supposedly "eats" the gaskets. Only thing I've seen dexcool do is clog up the radiator and heater core on cars.

Who in there right mind would want to put plastic inches from a combustion chamber and feel ok about it?!?!

        Whats next, plastic pistons?

What is so offending about steel they rather use plastic? Seems idiotic to me!

Oh wait, they want to cut back on weight and/or cost, lmfao. Like I'm going to buy a car because it is $30 cheaper with plastic gaskets.

MLS gaskets from WOT-TECH. For the price they are worth it. Especially since they are said to be reusable. And you can choose the thickness that best suites your needs.

iirc, if you had some of the heads shaved off, you can make up that amount in the gasket thickness to retain stock cr.
