  • another 3400 j hits the streets :)

    finished it up this weekend. i put a 3400 in my brothers 91 5spd z24. the stock engine had 409,XXX kms on it when we pulled it and it still ran fairly decent.

    he's all stoked on it... did a few good shake down cruises saturday after we finished it up as he's going to put it to the test when he drives from winnipeg to move to Edmonton for the summer on tuesday. the bottom end only has 7400 kms on it. basically a brand new engine..

    right now the engine is bone stock, save for i touched up the rear exhaust manifold outlet with some porting, and the 2.5inch Mandrel bent exhaust system that was pirated from my car(i'm making new exhaust when i do my headers this month) and a custom made cold air intake/k&n combo was added.
    i'll be porting the heads and intakes this winter and possibly a camshaft if comp ever comes out with one....

    upon my test drive of the car i had the clutch just smoking...

    we're putting in a bully stage 2 clutch in it later this summer when he gets some more $$, he has to take it easy on it right now with the stocker in there...

    with a good clutch in there, the car should run a 14.9 or less 1/4 time. so that will be two 14 second jbody's in the family

    Yeah last time i called Dy Said you where at the shop all night for the past few days lol, Good to hear, i hope you will have time for me in july

            tell me what you run. my engine is bone stock as well. im having traction problems. i can't break 15s though. my engine was out of an 03 impala with 25,000 miles. im also using my original 2.8 computer and everything.

              How can the 2.8 computer support the 3400 motor without modifying the computer?

                  im not sure what my brother will run for times. i dont think we'll even have it at the track this year. he's too buisy saving his $ for school this fall.

                  that and the stock clutch thats in there right now cant take ANY abuse LOL.
                  she just slips and stinks to shit if you try running it hard.
                  we'll put in a bully when he gets some cash saved up.

                  Johny G run's a 14.9 second run with his bone stock 3400 transplant, the only addition to his engine is 2.5inch crush bent piping, and an intake tube and filter.

                  you cant launch these cars hard at the lights. you have to ease into them or all you get is smoke and spinning. its a tricky balance.

                      no i havnt.. i'd like to come down to a few tracks in ND this summer. we'll have to see what happens.

                      i drove through fargo again last year on the way to the Jbody bash... now that im in winnipeg instead of brandon heaps closer too.. might have to hit that up someday.

                        if nothing else hit up the forum at their site. there are a number of guys that come down from manitoba both for the 1/4 mile action there as well as the dirt oval in grand forks.

                        there is also some other dirt ovals in NW MN but i am not completely up to speed on them. greenbush and karlstad i believe are 2 of them.
                        have seen some of the manitobans talk about an air strip used for 1/8 or 1/4 up there so i may make the trip for kicks this summer.
                        i may also make it to winnipeg for dbdrag car audio.
