  • 3100 vin letters?!?!

could someone tell me what the letter is for the gen 3 3100 with the large ports? just about any 3100 in a 2000 and up should have that right?

    3.1L, (VIN J, 8th digit)

3.4L (VIN E, 8th digit) just to compare when your looking

watch out with the year 2000 engines as all of the 3400 ive seen have the A.I.R injection stuff in the heads, they prob did it with the 3100's too.

The 1999 Vin J LG8 3100 that I bought and built for my gold car also had the AIR stuff.

I just swapped out the exhaust manifolds with the normal 3100 ones, and the rear 3100 exhaust manifold was from a 1999 Lumina (it didn't have the AIR injection, suprisingly).

on mine, it was attached to the exhaust manifolds.

They had a weird pipe coming off of them, and a different heat shield.

Here is a really crappy pic from when I first got the engine. You can see the pipe thing for the AIR stuff.

oh ok they must have changed it when they dumped it on every car in 2000.

heres a pic the only decent one i could find you can kinda see theres a tube going into each cylinder.
