    Ok so here are the stipulations:

    Budget: $3000
    HP: 300+
    1/4: 12.5 sec
    Motor given: 3.4 DOHC 150K+
    Car given: z34 lumina
    Trans given: hydramatic 4T60E


    Must stay within budget.
    Do not have to use motor or trans given.
    Looks do not matter.
    Must stay FWD.
    Turbo can be used.


    Person with best and cheapest idea will receive award. there will also be pics and a write-up after all is done.

    u could easily have 300+ horse with a 3400 with 8 psi tuned properly.. home made turbo kits arent cheap if u look around for stuff

      x2 I don't know much about the 3.4 dohc but I would think a turbo 3400 or maybe even a 3500 would be your best bet.

        homemade meth-injection. $75
        hack-saw away superflous body-panels and body parts, remove windows, remove interior leaving only hydro-formed frame for weight reductions.(free)
        cheap Jaz racing seat $140
        DIS-4 $150
        welded differential spider-gears (free)
        1-gallon fuel cell $75
        red-line tranny fluid $8
        modding tranny to increase line pressure ???
        trans line lock $120

          If you have a 3.4 DOHC then keep it, do a quick rebuild then boost it. those heads flow WAY more than the pushrod heads do. You can make unreal power as long as the engine holds together.. Be aware though, that car weighs alot.. you are going to need over 400 crank HP to get into the 12's.. probably around 450-475.

          BTW, there is a proper section for the DOHC engine

                      He did say in his post that the engine and tranny could be swapped out as long as it was within the $3000 budget. That means his thread isnt neccesarily about the 3.4l DOHC.
