    Depends on how much work you want to do...

    the best heads are the aluminum heads from a '04-'06 FWD 3500 V6. You'll have to switch to MPFI and use the rest of the 3500 top end, also i think you gotta grind a tab off of your water pump and re-work your accessory brackets. probably a 40-50 HP gain with tuning right there.

    You'll be at or around 11.5:1 compression with the 3500 heads. With a moderate cam and some headers it'll move pretty good.
    Past Builds;
    1991 Z24, 3500/5 Spd. 275WHP/259WTQ 13.07@108 MPH
    1989 Camaro RS, ITB-3500/700R4. 263WHP/263WTQ 13.52@99.2 MPH
    Current Project;
    1972 Nova 12.73@105.7 MPH

      that sounds like the amount of work i was planning on. im actually buying a 3.4 with a t5 out of a camaro sometime (hopefully) next week. im just going to drop it in and get it running. then do all my top end tuning on that engine. then buy another 3.4 block and do all the bottom end work on that, then put my top end on it and swap again. i figured i'd do it that way because this will all happen over the course of a few years.
      what will i need to change in the computer to switch to MPFI?

        Probably the engine harness and computer out of a donor car. If you have the misfortune of owning a OBD1.5 cars, this would also give you the chance to get into computer tuning if you got the harness and ECM from an OBD1 car.

          I am doing a OBDI piggy-back on a customer's car real soon and will post up the info (3.4/3500). I feel this is the easiest way so you can have the stock ECM run your gages etc, while still being able to tune...

            yea, im waiting on a friend thats getting some computer tuning software for my old laptop. we should be able to tune about anything with what he's getting. (he works at the geek squad so he knows his computers, haha) and about the compression ratio, im wanting this car to be mostly a street car, not just for racing. im getting started in the scca, but dont have the money to dedicate this car to only that. will i be able to get away with using just premium pump gas? because i need it to run mainly on pump gas.

              I'm CompTIA A+ certified and working on my Network+ certification atm (i should be studying, not posting on here, so don't tell the wife ) but that doesn't mean I know how to tune. Just be careful when you guys get into tuning. Give the engine what it wants, not what you want it to handle (spark advance, fuel, ect.). Don't go overboard and you will keep that engine running health for years to come (hopefully). There are plenty of people on here that tune their own cars that will be more then willing, I'm sure, to answer any questions you guys will have in the process of doing this up.

                from what i've been reading, your setup seems to be exactly what i was planning on doing as far as the whole engine goes

                    so does that mean it'll be easier? and do i have to get a new ecm to change the car over to a stick? i think i just need to take it to the dealership and get it reflashed, but im used to carbed cars, so im not sure.
