IIRC 2005 3500's were VVT motors... Double check that one, and then on top of that, unless you use a 3400 head gasket on a 3100 block you can't use 3500 heads on that... And I'm actually not sure if the valve clearance is the same or not either... 3400 head gaskets are really close to the combustion chamber of the 3500 head as it is, so you cant use old 3100 or 3.1 gaskets on them... which in that case means your bore will probably overlap the combustion chamber too, so it probably wouldn't work.
I think the general consensus on this board is if you want to run 3500 heads you should be starting with a minimum of a 3400 block.
Nope, won't work because the 3.5 head combustion chambers would overlap the 3.1 bore. Need to go on a 3400 sized bore at least.
But that is a good deal!!
I believe 2005 was still LX9, but there might be some VVT motors starting that year... My UIM is from a 2005 Malibu max I know that much and it's the LX9 of course.

So would an engine out of a '06 Pontiac G6 drop right into a beretta? And would the getrag bolt right onto it? I might just go that route its prolly the best way to bring up the HP.
bolt right in... almost... Bolt to a Getrag Yes...
Some modifications are needed in older pre 91 berettas IIRC for the passenger side engine mount. Also some trans leg brackets unless you plan on using the long passenger side axle.
And the typical parts... 3x00 fuel rails, larger injectors to be safe, 3x00 manifolds unless you plan to make exhaust for the 3500 ones, need an external crank trigger, in the WOT-Tech store... and a few other items... I'm sure some will chime in.
