you are right, they are cheap. meaning they are not be best in the biz. IF you get their custom badass unobtainium brian nutter cost cutter pistons, they are going to cost buku $$$. we have had 5 engines grenade from using them. we have had NO problems with manley or diamond. as a matter of fact, GMPP running a 14:1 LS engine, and texas speed run them in their engines. TSP makes alot of perf LS engines just like scoggin dickey does, including a heads/cam ONLY 9 sec turbo400(iirc) Fbody in a 2800# race weight and have set numerous national records last year with them. Diamond is a very nice very affordable piston and their forged alloy even though it has the same "number" is alot better for drivability, meaning cold starts and slap/knock, than quite a few others. I know wiseco very well. I talk to them along with a few others on a daily basis. I did not go with the first company that i thought would make them, I went with quality first and price second. We just need to agree on a final design and get some orders, and they will start rolling.

yes most piston places will make you anything... BUT we are trying to get stocked parts for these setups so you can pick you size and compression from a drop down list and not have to measure everything and have a custom tooling cost to have them made. This thread will make high compression or low compression forged pistons affordable.

Just to inform if it may help someone else down the line, I am having Diamond make me a set of custom forged 9.5:1 pistons for my 3500 right now and was told 3 - 5 weeks.

I did not know of this thread beforehand and it just turns out my machine shop buddy uses Diamond for all of his race engines.
Cost is somewhere around $800 for the set, and they didn't need a stock piston to get it made (maybe because of this thread and info that you may have supplied them).

I'll let you know how it works out, and maybe I can have him mention this thread or something to help people in the future (that way it shows more interest or something).

          Regards
