  • There is a possibility of some more headers being made.

Ok I have found someone who can and will make the headers in mild steel. He wants to know what everyone is willing to pay for them and how many want them.My car will be the test vehicle with a 3.1 first then a 2000 or later 3100 on the second round. They will be equal length headers set at about 29" primarys with about a 2 3/4" collector or 2 1/2" collector. If you are SERIOUSLY up to buying these then post in this forum.I am going to get my set Jet-Hot coated for durability purposes.I recomend the same for everyone else.

yeah and they always start out as "this is a for sure thing, we just need to make sure there is interest for them, or we need "X" amount of pre orders.."....

            right....

IF YOU BUILD THEM THEY WILL SELL! thats all i have to say. there should be no, i need 5 people interested. there is so many people out there wanting headers that are sick of the monthly header thread garbage to even bother replying, we've seen it all too many times....

i refer to it as " the guy who claimed headers" like the boy who cried wolf syndrome

Those are the WORST headers I have EVER seen. His primaries are like 2" diameter, and about 8 inches long. That sucks. And they aren't even close to equal length. Ouch.

                  a 2 1/2" collector is too much for the 3.1. I am using a 2 1/4" collector for each. Then they collect into a single 2 1/2". I would use a 2 1/4" collector for the 3.1.

And building your own isn't that easy. You need a welder, a good one. Pipe. My pipe alone cost around $400. It is stainless steel mandrel bent. The flanges weren't easy either. I had to use a buddy's plasma cutter, and I made 4 before getting 2 I liked. And then the design. This took a long time, and it is tough to get the primaries to clear everything, and still be equal length and a good length. I encourage people to do i, but be prepared to spend a lot of money and a lot of time, and be without a car for around 2 months.

Give the guy a break...he is making cutom exhaust manifolds to allow the 3.4 engine to fit in a Miata. He couldn't get any stock cast iron mnifolds from any application to fit. He isn't doing it for power, or for optimal header design. Although not optimal, they should flow better than any stock manifolds.

The tubes he is using are not 2". It is schedule 40 thick-wall tubing (0.160"), so it is probably 1.5" ID, 2"OD.

Get the whole story before you bash the guy.

Hey Marty, you gotta remember that Aaron is the resident expert welder. Been doing it for 15 yrs.. and he's only 18!

Aaron, just because you made your own set and you've read tech papers from a header guy doesn't make you an expert. And like Marty said, get the whole story straight before you start mouthing off. If you are so good, why don't you start making headers and selling them to people? Lemme guess... not enough time? Suck it up. That's a lame excuse for someone your age. And I can shoot down any other excuse you come up with as well... You'd think you'd learn. Stick in the DOHC sections so that only half the forum will think you are dumb...

The headers fit perfectly in place and will terminate into a 2" collector. Piping is 1 1/4ID schedule 40 and cost me $70.

                            Marty, Ben, Brad: 'nuff said.

                            Aaron: you "owned" me.

Im not saying this guy has to have so many before he does anything,Im saying that he want to know what its worth and how many want them.Thats all Im saying. His reasoning is that if he needs to make several sets he will make forms to match mine when we get them right. There will be no pre pay before they are made or any of that BS.If everyone else is too sceptical then I will be the only one with these headers.Im not tring to be an azz or anything I am just tring to help all the fellow J-Bodys out there.Hell for that matter I may have a few sets made just for me.
