  • 3500 Intake Swap

So I've looked at the 3400 to 3500 UIM picture gallery ans I see the same problem as I am having. First being that the 3400 ICM bracket doesn't bolt to the 3500 UIM. That I'm going to assume is easily solved with a 3500 ICM bracket. My second issue is the MAP sensor vaccum hookup. I can easily rig the 3400 MAP sensor to work but I like using factor parts so is there a special bracket for the 3500 MAP or does the 3500 use the smaller MAP like the ones found on the 2.4 J body motors?? Is there a special fitting for the hole on the top of the UIM??

3500 uses the smaller MAP like the 2.4 engines.

LS1 engines use the same MAP. The 2200 98+ engines use the same style, but the look is a little different. But will bolt up the same.

For the MAP bracket, it's just a bolt that holds sheet metal piece that keeps the MAP held down and from rotating. It doesn't really put any pressure or snap into the MAP, just holds it from coming up or moving around. Like a stop basically. You can see it here sorta. http://isaachayes.60degreev6.com/350...acuumlines.jpg You could easily bend one out of sheet metal to be the same shape. Tin snips and a soup can would work.

For the ICM you can take the steel 3500 one and drill and tap holes for your ICM to bolt to. Or do what I did and just bolt the stock one down on the heads, and leave the top resting on the plenum. It doesn't flop around and works just fine.

If you have a 96+ car, you should be able to use the 3500 MAP that properly fits on the upper intake. Your wiring harness would just plug into it. That is what I am using in my car.

To get my ICM and such onto my motor, I used the 3500 bracket and made my own holes... but as said in the last post if you just leave the top bolt off it's fairly secure.
