  • HELP Mini Starter? which one to use?

    Hello,
I have a 2.8 s10 motor with the right side mounted starter.
I have the motor in a small car and have limited space due to
the cross member and motor mounts. the only starter that will
fit length wise is the mini stacked denso/nippon style.
Well there tooth size do I get?
I know it refers to the flywheel tooth count. but I have know clue
what the count is can some one please help me...

All I need is tooth count, which is a good starter to use, a pat on the back, kick in the ass, and send me on my way.............!

If you can use a FWD starter on a RWD engine, then you could go with one of the small 2000+ OEM ones.

My block has a diagonal mount bolt holes and is on the right side of the block
I would have to see the starter out of the fwd to know....?

Hmm now that I think about it I doubt you can flip the FWD starter since it will be on the other side of the engine.

Well, sorry, but that's all I know. And don't ask me to count my fly wheel teeth!

if the starter is on the opposite side from a FWD, then it won't work. you'd have to mount it backwards--the back of the starter would point toward the back of the car. though, doing so, it should turn the engine over in the right direction, but it'd hit the firewall. lol
