Modified 3.4 Camaro upper intake

I had to cut out and weld in the rear crossover section of my upper intake mainfold to make room for a distributer.

Why is this cross over even there? Could I of affected the air flow negitivly in anyway?

I think it was to keep the amount of vaccum equal on both sides. You could have taken a 87-95 sbc distributor and a v6 and made a distributor that would cleared the intake. I have one that I made for a hybrid then when it blew I ran it on a stock 3.4 like the one you have.

Thanks, I have a nice malory unilite, so I wanted to use it. But I'll keep that in mind.
