A while back moneyclip dynoed 187 WHP on his s-10 with a 3.4L Edelbrock headers and a Holley TBI and 3.4L crate engine cam. As far as I know that was the only work done, the engine was from a Camaro. If you search S-Series.org you should find it.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma
1990 4Door, 3.2L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. 4X4. Trooper
Because... I am, CANADIAN

3.4/3500 hybrid tuned right will smoke an LT1
Chris just finished getting his 4th Gen Camaro running last month before he left in the Air Force and it's faster than his Z28 (LT1). No track numbers yet, and some fine tuning left, but it screams.
You will want to swap to a speed density ECM ('7730 came in the 90-91 Fbods), get some tuning equipment and play with that with the stock motor to get used to tunung while you build the hybrid.
You'll want at least a 272 cam for the high compression, and the nice thin is the complete 3500 top end fits right in our engine bay
You will also have to do the DIS swap and get rid of the distributor, but that's easy, just some re-wiring.
Did you weigh the car at 3000lb? Seems low, most guys get them down to about 3400lbs.

if this is all with the stock top end... what would happen with a fully ported top end? and how long would a 7 quart water/methanol injection last on a daily driver? would i have to be refilling it everyday?
and what i said about the biggest cam... i say that because the biggest cam i found was not that big...

you can get re-grinds on stock flat tappet cams, you'll have to measure for propper pushrod length though.
there is also the solid tappet cam route.. but don't expect to daily drive it with this cam: http://www.cranecams.com/?show=brows...tType=camshaft
The H272-2 cam works very nice, you'll get a bit more lift with the 1.6 rockers of the 3500 heads as well.

are the rocker arms on the 3500 roller? because if not... i might as well go ahead and buy roller rockers arms... why not eh? im going pretty crazy with this as it is...
how much do you think a custom set of max seal total seal piston rings will cost for the 3.4l bored 30 over?
and i noticed on the cam page it said minimum rpm with rcommended components is 1800. does that mean i wont be able to idle at 750-850? like my engine normally does?Last edited by oxrabidus; 01-09-2009, 02:49 PM.

lol, once you get into the bigger cams there is no way they will idle that low. Mine idles at 1100. Any lower and it stalls.
the 3500 has roller fulcrum rockers, the tips are standard though. Similar to the LS7 rockers in this picture: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ocker-arms.jpg
Not sure on the cost of rings.. maybe check Summit racing?

my cam is .539 intake/.549ex.. 288/293 advertised duration on a 110 LSA. RPM range is 2K-8K ( i have the rev limiter at 7K though).

to get that much lift on a flat tappet cam i would gues your duration @.05 is around 230ish? also is that your best time on street tires? i just now saw yourmods... quite a bit done to it... sweet car though!
but yeah just wanna get a feel for the difference which the 272 cam is 216/224 @.05... which seems small compared to your cam.

nice. thats not too bad. i bet it sounds mean too. my 2.8 sounds mean now...
but i just realized this... where in south florida are you forcedfirebird? im in orlando so im not too far from you?
you think i could get low 14s with this? and someweight shaved off? because if i remembered correctly third gens are lighter than fourth gens... if i remember correctly and if a fourth gen with this could outrun a lt1 i would be in the low 14s.

250 crank HP will get you low 14's That's almost the same power as a stock TPI third.
I'm in Ft.Lauderdale area, about 2.5hr south of you depending on where in Orlando. Shop is in Deerfield and my house is in Coral Springs.
Last 60*V6 I worked on here at the shop is running high 12's (boosted FWD)
And yes, the cam sounds uber nice.
