  • Camshaft swap for 93 3.1

Heres the deal. I have a 93 grand prix with a 3.1. I've converted the drivetrain with a 5speed from a 90 GP, and now that I'm rebuilding the engine, I need a bumpstick. Who makes a good performance cam that works with fuel injection?? And what do I need to do for it to work?

comp cams, crane cams, crower, GM Performance Parts and a few others all make cams for the 3.1L.

the most popular is the Crane 260 camshaft. which is available as the same grind from GM performance parts (crane makes it for GM)

from comp the 16-233-4 is the most popular one as well.

you'll need new valve springs for the increase in valve lift.

Crane has several computer freindly cams for your engine, just depends on what you are looking for. Other manufacturers (Lunati, Comp, Crower, etc) all have different grinds as well, but Crane seems to be the most popular.

I have an Engle cam for sale on eBay right now that will work with 3.1, fuel-injection like you said. West Coast Fiero says on their site that valve spring replacement is not necessary with this cam.

        Take a look:

The cam is also available from westcoastfiero.com for $177

PFFT ALWAYS replace the springs. Stock Gen I and II springs blow.
