how much did you have to shell out to get the forged pistons and rebuild the top end with the super charger on it? I imagine it took a good few days to take it appart and put it back together.. lol theres a part of me that kind wants to slap some kind of boost adder to my 3100 if the project wasnt too costly or long to do.

Pistons were 750.00 but there is a set of 400.00 ones on here 20 overbore....and i have a 3400 topend that would go nicely with that 3100............that would get you going in the right direction anyway. I have a brother in Detroit that you could save on shipping and brokerage fees if you are interested in the 3400 topend.

I don't think you NEED forged pistons with this kit... You just need to realize that its not something that bolts in and you can't use a boxed tune with it... you need to do your own custom tune and also have plenty of supporting mods, ONE of which should be injectors to support the load. If you don't have those or a tuner then don't bother, and for those that bought this kit thinking someone could bolt it on for them and all would be good... You were had, and it shows your lack of auto mechanic knowledge.
The only good thing that comes with this kit, is the Vortech supercharger and the engineering idea of how to drive it, and even that could use some help since it lessens belt contact on the water pump, and the bearings fail.Last edited by 3400-95-Modified; 11-19-2008, 04:17 PM.

First off....you do need forged pistons with this kit....second...I did not install it nor did I tune it....the supposed experts did....so your assumption is completely unfounded. This kit requires a lot more than RSM or Z-Spec is able to provided.....PERIOD. There will be a time when this kit will work and it will not be from the sideliners who cast their hypoyhesised solutions but from people such as myself who have tried and and failed and will keep trying till it works.........Boost is a beast and untill you give it a go.......watch from the sidelines cause everyone has an opinion till they have to start paying for it..............with all do respect

It's just common sense... I wouldn't trust ANYONE when it comes to boost and I don't see why you did either... Boost is just something thats NOT done often on these motors so there is not much tuning knowedge out there so its really up to you to monitor and make it work right.
And 8psi... No you don't NEED forged pistons, you just need to know how to tune, Now if you want to exceed the 8psi, then yeah you should invest in forged pistons.

I guess its a matter of trust. I trusted that this company knew what they were doing and I was wrong....as were a whole lot of other people....hind sight is really easy to shove up someones ass..... the difference is coming up with a solution that makes it all work. The forged pistons are not to compensate for the boost......they are there to compensate for the lean nature of the fuel requirements and to be able to take whatever knock retard that possibly takes place during the boost process. There is a market...thats where you are incorrect, I guess you just have more common sense than the rest of us....possibly you could share some of this knowledge so that those with these kits might benefit from your vast knowledge of the boost process. Please feel free to share as much common sence as you wish.............all of us idiots are just waiting for your vast amount of intellect.
