just thought i'd let those who are interested know that I got my car to the 1/8 mile track finally.
it ran ET 0.16 slower, and MPH 0.40 slower with my tranny swap. Now, the differences since the old tranny runs: weight is ~100 lbs more, there are wider tires (205 to 225), added the spare tire, and had a FULL tank of gas. i can't help but think if i changed the FDR, which would end up being 3.20:1, it would go faster. however, I still have some shift timing to sort out--when to lock TCC and what RPM to shift at, and a little ECM tuning.
the main differences:
-much faster and firmer shifts
-now 1st gear launches struggle to keep traction (at the track)
-better city mileage though haven't been able to just drive it yet, i get 23 MPG and that's with trying to tune in the 60-85 kPa often and several WOT tests (mainly 1-2 & some 2-3 shifts).
-ability to change just about any parameter and area that controls the tranny.
