I have been asked before, "What does one need to perform a 3400 swap into a fourth gen f-body?". At which point my advice would be to build 3.4l using 3400 internals and a 3500 top-end. A 3400 swap into an f-body is a real challenge. It takes more time, money and skill than most can facilitate.
If you feel up to the challenge, then gather up the following.
If your looking to swap in a Tremec TKO or Richmond 5 or 6 speed transmission, it requires a special lakewood bellhousing (that they no longer seem to make)
If you want to use a t-5 5-speed, its possible to use a 3800 f-body style bellhousing and bearing plate. Youll need to have a special shim between the internal throw-out assembly to accomodate the difference in flywheel depth.
Custom engine mounts with a minimal 1-1/2 inch drop to clear the 3400 intake mani. This is actuall not as hard as it sounds since the passenger side mounts still line up on two of the bolt holes needed to move the engine down 1-1/2 inch and back an additional 2inches.
Custom engine harness since the sensors are in different spots. The stock harness is a waist of time to modify.
stand alone ecm (megasquirt) since the cam since ring is different and un-usable.
custom exhaust headers to accomodate the reversed starter position and custom y-pipe.
A modified 3.4l "iron head" timing cover (you cant re-use the 3x00 style pump/timing cover unless you cut off the powersteering pump mount). This will allow you to reuse the stock accessory brackets.
A 2.8l fiero style flywheel which is a direct bolt-on for this motor, and will allow the use of a 3x00 mini-starter. It will also accomodate the stock f-body 3.4l clutch and pressure plate. Its much lighter than the camaro stocker which is a plus. The draw-back is that it sits much furtherback fromthe realease bearing when mounted and will require a shimmed internal throw-out bearing assembly when used with the 3800 style bellhousing.
And last, the crank will require that the pilot boss be "bored out" a bit for the t-5 pilot bearing.
