  • No more beretta hybrid

Well, the 3400/3500 hybrid Beretta is no more. My daughters Grand Am quad 4 is a piece of crap and it is hitting the road. When I found the Beretta she wanted it then, so I offered her the car now and she happily accepted. lol BUT without my motor, trans, and exh. I was originally going to put my engine in my white '93 Corsica before I found the Beretta, so I swapped the engines, trans, and exhaust systems. The Retta is running and she is very happy with it but the Corsi is taking a little more time. I recently picked up a white '95 Z26 and am almost done stripping it, putting the front and rear bumper assemblies, the grill, my new S&S headers, 2.5" exh., and dual Dynomax Turbo mufflers on the Corsica Z3400. It's starting to get dark so I'm heading back out to work on the Corsi again.

    Nice!

I've always wanted to put a beretta kit on a corsica. with a healthy engine it'll make a great DD.

    Good luck!

Thanks Dave, I'll post some pics when I get it together, it should be on the road by this weekend. I'm actually looking for an increase in performance not only from the headers, but I do believe that the Corsica is considerably lighter than the Beretta. Wow, what a way to shed a few pounds and make my kid happy at the same time. I have had a few Corsicas in the past and I have always wanted to mod one and put Z26 Beretta ground effects on it. Now I'm back to what my build was originally going to be, but man I'm really tired of pulling and installing engines. LOL This car will be my DD but I'll still make it to Cordova in the spring.

Oh yea, when I pulled the vacuum hose off of the FPR gas shot out of it. Bet that was screwing with trying to tune it, eh?

I thought you had gone and done the thing in and wrecked it or blew up the motor... LOL

I was gonna ask what year the corsi was but after reading it I see its a 93, so you'll still be OBDI and 3t40

^^^^ You bet Jon, everything stays the same except the exhaust. I am in the middle of the header mod now and then I'll finish it off with two mufflers instead of one. That thing was so damn loud that I don't know how I didn't get a ticket. LOL Plus I'm kind of partial to OBD1 so the Ostrich and the tune will go right into the Corsi and save me a little time. Although I am buying a new FPR.

I love the beretta over the corsy, but it's at least the next closet thing!! LOL.

At least you'll have a fast car still. Less room for the front header though, don't know if you know that, but the rad support is closer on the corsy and shorter hood.

I hope my 2.5" mandrel bent manifold back with metallic cat and ultraflo stainless isn't too loud.

It might not be to loud Issac. I didn't have a cat and I was running a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler that was 3" in and dual 2.5 out. Hell you could look in the outlet pipes and see through the inlet. I don't think it muffled anything, it just made it a deeper tone. lol

The ultraflo is more straight through than the super turbo. It's like a huge glass pack, similar to magnaflow mufflers. A cat should help some. The exhaust won't be welded, but stainless band clamped, so I can modify it if need be in that area.

After the comment about less engine room in the Corsi by Issac, I went out to tonight and took some measurements. I still have the '96 z26 Beretta sitting here, so I measured from the firewall to the radiator support on both it and the Corsica. 33" on both, so I don't anticipate any problems with the front header. It appears that the Beretta is longer from the rad. support forward.

I was gonna say I didn't think that was true... they do share the same radiator, hoses and so on so I can't imagine they would be a shorter engine bay... and they also can receive the same front clip... you could do fender forward from a Z26 and it would all line up, I've seen it done before, the only difference is where the body line is on the door and fender.

Hmmm. Interesting. I know the radiator looked a lot closer on my friends corsy than mine when we replaced his. Odd. That's what I was picturing in my mind.
