  • Head stud/rod bolt question

Ok, so now that I have head studs from ARP for my engine, and i have the ARP rod bolts...what should i use on them. ARP said to use the teflon sealant on the bottom of the studs...but what about the stop part where the nut goes...also what would anyone recommend on the rod bolts, just the arp moly lube or locktite, or both? just want to see what everyone says, PLUS how far into the block do i screw the studs?

3x00 motors put the head studs in the block till they stop, by HAND, don't tighten them, also use moly lube when doing the torque on the other end, thats what I did, and IIRC it was 73 or 75ftlbs. I didn't use teflon sealant because well our motors don't go into the water jacket.

Rod bolts... ur on your own there I have no clue.

Dont forget the rods have to be modified for the rod bolts. The stock rod bolts are a smaller diameter so the holes in the rod have to be slightly enlarged. If you dont do this, you wont get them in.

what are you talking about? They press right in like they are supposed to. I use the ARP moly lube for all ARP bolts.
