  • E85?

What does it take to run E85. Is it just as simple as a computer reprogram or does it involve changing injector sizes too? Since High compression motors require higher octane, i'm thinking why not.

Is this something even worth pursuing?

    Thanks,

    Brian

Looks like there are a couple of kits out there for the conversion.

As of course, E85 is a completely different animal compared to gasoline. Here are the basics that you need to know:

        1. Stoichiometric ratio is 9.8:1 (need more fuel per volume of air).
        2. 105 octane rating
        3. Corrodes Aluminum and eats rubber (slowly)
        4. More volatile than gasoline, cooler ambient temp.
        5. High resistant to knock

There's so much more to learn, but it's great for boosted motors or high CR motors. Hot Rod mag did an article all about it, read up.

Yes, you'll have to go with larger injectors and the car will need to be completely re-tuned.

Scott0999 on v6z24 switched to E85 on his turbo 3400 and reported good results. He is still using the aluminium fuel rail and other stock parts with no problems....yet

Well i'm seriously considering it, so if anyone has anymore links to look at, it would be much appreciated. Those other links were great.

              Thanks,
