  • Estimated HP at the flywheel?

Okay, next up since I ordered my sound deadening for the trunk is the 3400 UIM & LIM, then by tax season the cam.

So by April this is what I expect to have on the car:

    3400 ported UIM & LIM
performance cam (unsure how aggressive I will be going)
2.5" cat back exhaust (already done)
    Hooker Aerochamber muffler (already done)

Any guesses as to the HP/TQ at the flywheel the car will be making?

Also if anyone has any other future mods or suggestions to change my plans let me know.

    Thanks,
    Andy

Mods: K&N airfilter, Addco Front & Rear Swaybars, 2.5" cat-back exhaust w/ Hooker Aerochamber muffler.

Down the road: Cam(?), 3400 ported UIM & LIM, ported heads.

seems to me that guessing at Hp/Tq numbers without knowing cam specs is near impossible. please try again after you've decided on a cam, after all it really is the one part that decides what kind of personality the engine has.

not even reading the thread I'm gonna say around 50... maybe 55 peak.

      LOL

EDIT: Now reading the thread my guess is pretty accurate with the info supplied... Need cam specs to determine anything.

like what was already mention it's hard to guess because of the cam but if you start with a small port 3100 and you change the intake manifolds and have a cat back i would have to guess your making less power then a stock 3400 and if you go with a mild cam you may get a little bit over a stock 3400
to get the most out of your intake swap i would think about swaping to big port heads too and may down the road think about porting a set of 3400 exhaust mani's or finding some 3500 mani's

U wish you had a flywheel. haha

220 to the flexplate shouldn't be too hard with a good tune. 250 is possible, but head work would help significantly.

3.1 iron head put out 100hp almost on the nose for WHP, being rated at 140hp to the crank, you can make an assumption *BUT* power doesn't always have to do with how fast the car will be

Say 10-12ish? for the intakes and exhaust tops, cam, depends, but maybe 20ish?? And you'll need to tune to get the full #'s... OH and do the rest of the exhaust, get rid of that 1.5" ID downpipe and get a high flow cat.... You could get close to 200 or a little over with proper setup with cam (good intake/exhaust) with a tune.

Sorry about that guys. I guess I would go with the Stage 1 NA cam and custom length rods that Ben suggested.

Agreed. It is definitely on the list to do.

If you are going to go through the trouble of pulling the engine to put in a new cam, why not go a little more aggressive?

True, true. Well I guess my question would be how much can these engines make without doing the heads?

Also, the 4T60E can only handle about 250 hp tops right?

The 4t60-e, depends how many miles, the condition of it, and if you do anything to make it shift faster so it gets less wear.

Easiest thing is the adjustable modulator.. Next would be taking off the side pan and shimming the accumulators.

Then would be a rebuild replacing worn parts, and weak factory parts with hardened ones, and new good clutches. After that it's $$$ for custom better parts.

Well the 4t60e is holding up to my setup fine(Ben estimated 275/275 with my cam)... also my last one held up to 206whp and 238ftlbs, so not sure what that is at the crank but its close to that "limit" you posted....

Well, loner is using that tranny, and even thought he blew through the 180k mile one and a 75k mile one (thae same weekend I installed the turbo), the 30k tranny is now holing up (guessing at the mileage on them), and is running 13 flat at 113mph with a 2.x 60' O.O
