Connecting Rods

Just wanted to get some opinions about re-using a set of rods that have discoloration due to a spun bearing and heat. Motor was run dry...

I will have them reworked but I am concerned with the strength and durability of them.

I dunno, we send steel to get heat treated and theres always discoloration in the material afterwards. Maybe now that your rods had a heat treat, they'll be super strong........lol

I dunno.......... I'd be looking for qualing or whatever, I'd be lookin at the crank alittle closer.....

It did run alot better with oil in it though!! I had a known leak that apparently got alot worse than I had noticed. I put the normal 1/2 quart evey week and one morning it was about -10 here in MI and she died on me.

Anyway, I have the crank back from grinding an it looks good that did not have any discoloration on it just alot of bearing material mushed on it.

I am think about going to ARI and getting a set of peened rods for about $175. Has anyone here dealt with them??
