I'm assuming since you recommended them, your car is equipped with Hookers, right?

    Thanks!

Yes, I calculated that I needed around 700-800 cfm of exhaust flow to support the projected HP of the engine so I ran 2.25" true duals (mandrel bent) and a pair of Aerochambers, the system is capable of flowing around 900-1000 CFM which will support 400+ HP.

I probably won't sell the car, I've got several plans for it in the upcoming years.. one includes a possible RWD conversion.

Very cool!!! Would you lose more power through the trans going to RWD?

I really wanted duals but it looks like it may be more of a pain in the a$$ to do than it's worth. I'm gonna try the muffler first, then try on the other stuff. Maybe in the long run it may be just as effective to do a 2.5" single exhaust even though it wouldn't look as nice.

For the costs of having a custom dual exhaust system put in place I could probably have a cam installed and probably yield better results.

Another good set up is a resonator and no mufflers. It is actually not ovely loud but exceptionally free flowing. No rasp either.

Well, I measured my current muffler. It is 19" L, 11.5" W, and 6" high. So it's pretty large. It has a center inlet and center outlet which look like they both measure 2".

I am on Holley's website and they have 2" offset inlet and center outlet for the Aerochamber. Would this pose a problem or is it easy to get around this?

They do have the Maximum Flow muffler in a 2" center inlet/outlet but I was trying to stick with the Aerochamber.

What to do, what to do..... Any ideas?

2.5" is the smallest they have a center in/center out.. i used 3" in/out on mine but just used pipe adapters to neck them down to 2.25".

any shop could make an adapter for the larger inlet diameter. It's very simple.

Personally, I like the Flowmaster 44 on the 60* motors

Dual 44's are even better. I like how I was told that this couldn't be done

I do have headers and full 2.5" all the way back

So SuperDave, I could just buy the 2.5" muffler and take it to the shop without having to buy the extra parts right? Oh and by the way, where did you get that rectangular exhaust tip?

The one guy I know does exhaust so I guess he could do that easily.

If you're just looking for a decent sound for right now before you do any serious mods, I'd like to recommend an OEM muffler. The PO of my Celebrity threw on a catback from a third-gen V6 Camaro, which has a dual tip muffler, and it has a real nice sound to it. I have an MFI engine, not an SFI like you, but it should probably sound the same. A bit throaty, no highway drone. It would require a bit of cutting and welding to install, and you'd have to come up with something to hang the driver's side tip, since there are no provisions on an A-body for dual exhaust of any kind.

Yep, any shop could mount that muffler up. They'll just expand a piece of 2.25" pipe to fit the inlet snugly and weld that to your stock 2" pipe (if the metal is still good on it). I've done TONS of exhaust systems like that.

i picked up the tips on ebay, they were labeled as camaro tips but are like 2" narrower than the GM ones so they fit inside my cutouts. iirc they were like $50 or so.

Awesome!!! I ordered the muffler today. I'm going to start searching for tips now. The good part about the 2.5" muffler is that if I decide to open up the exhaust more to a 2.5" all the way back it will be reusable.

Thanks SuperDave and everyone else for the input. It made my research a lot easier.

From what has been seen underneath it looks like duals or more to my liking true duals would be very difficult. I'll try to take some pics this weekend and post them to see if anyone has any ideas.
