Where can I tap for oil pressure?

Update: I removed the oil-in line at the filter and spun the oil pump with a drill. There's oil and lots of it! Oil also flows out of the filter when I remove the oil-out line. So why can't I get oil pressure?

Does anyone have a diagram of the oil system?

How does the valve train recieve oil? Should I see oil feed into the valves if I remove the cover and spin the oil pump?

Here's a better question: Do I need an oil bypass valve? Originally there was an oil filter adapter that had the bypass valve in it, but I don't have the adapter. Would this explain my low oil pressure?

Please help me guys, because I need to drop the whole drivetrain to get the motor out and I'd like to leave that as teh last option.

Did you check to make sure the cam gear is not sheared off/worn down?

I imagine the cam gear is fine. The oil pump drive that replaces the distributor is used but the gears look fine. This is a new GM performance parts engine. However, I did replace all the hardware with ARP stuff so my main concerns are that I somehow improperly installed a bearing or the oil bypass valve is required. Its a big deal to do replace/repair either one (i.e., I'd have to track down an oil filter adapter or remove the whole drivetrain) so I'm trying to avoid any unnecessary work.
