  • I don't think the 3.1 pipe would fit just going off of memory. It has 2 bolts that hold in down on top of the water pump area, and where it goes for tb coolant pipes was different iirc.

I might be wrong, but from what I've seen the 3500 seems ideal for what I'm wanting.

Dave are you using the 3500 specific pipe on your engine? If so that is the one I need for sure.

    • I made a custom one for mine, it's got parts of a 3500 pipe, 3400 pipe and a 3.1 pipe. I just have it looping back into the LIM though.. no heater core.

i got the new 3500 up on the stand earlier, i'll snag pics of the tube asap

      • Oooooo, that is good to know, and man damn it makes me wish I had a welder... I'm not going to be utilizing a heater core either, so that's of no consequence.

Guess I'll keep my drawing board open here, thanks for that piece of info Dave and I appreciate the eventual pics!

        • Not even in the spring/fall when it gets a little chilly and you wanna go for a cruise with the windows down? That's when I'd use a heatercore on a summer car/cruiser.

          • Not even then, this car only sees action from late April until late October usually. And anytime its going to be cold enough to need heat I probably wouldn't be in that car anyways.

            • I have a pipe plug in the intake manifold and a bypass cap on the line by the waterpump, to eliminate the heater core. I think I used a line from a venture van or you can cut off your stock one. I've used it for a year now no problems.

                • Dave, a local chassis builder whose last name is Vicary rented the track at Cordova all day on Sunday the 19th, he does this every year. It is like a fun day, pay your entry fee and run it down the track as many times as you want. I'm going up there with some friends who are running 9 and 10 second big blocks whether my car is done or not. Hopefully the headers get here soon and I can get it done because I need some numbers so I'll know what it will take for 13s. One of my buds said that we could put it on his trailer and tow it up for the fun. We should try to get together, talk tuning, and make some runs. It is open to any one who wants to run.

                    Consider me there..

I'm down to putting the axles in and adding fluids and a belt. Should be running tomorrow. I don't think i'm going to take it to the track till the 17th atleast.. i need time to work on the tune and shake it down for problems.

I'll have my laptop and all the tuning goodies with me

How much is the entry fee?

they told us in school not to use loctite on rod bolts because it will cause the nuts/bolts to loosen off.

                          • Why on earth would someone tell you loctite would cause something to loosen? Maybe Assy lube on the bolts would...

Lock Tite on the threads, assy lube on the back of the bolt head or nut. Many race cars will actually re-surface the bolt seat to ensure proper torque.
