Yeah one reason why I never have put an UDP on is that my motor has a ton of miles, and I'm sure the crank bearings don't look so hot. I don't want to give it an excuse to spin one (or do I? new motor! yeah! lol). With a high HP motor as yours I would be running a dampener. A stock one will probably last a while, but you need the protection with the extra forces you are generating and the extra RPMs.

I run a stock dampner on my motor and the one I ran the FFP UDP on I just found out has a lunched timing chain set... I wonder if thats related... No issues bearing wise tho.

I asked the machine shop about the Loctite and they laughed..
either way, the crank is with them now being turned 10/10. He confirmed without a doubt that the 7484 crank is forged steel, also confirned by other people in the lobby of the shop.
turnaround time could be a week or more.. hopefully less.

well yah just like alot of machine shops around here havent heard of chamfering valve springs...they may laugh, but i know diesel shops that do it all the time when they have problem childs like that. why dont those bearings look like they go with those rods...they have the notches for 2 tangs on the bearings? why dont the bearings have the tangs? also did you look at ur rockers and see if they were missing any rollers or the side covers...that would be a major issue worth checking out, unless that isnt ur pic that the guy earlier posted

I have always been told that you shouldn't use anything between the bearings and rod/block as it acts as an insulator and reduces heat transfer. Maybe an old myth... don't know.
The dangers of a solid UDP has been debated here many times. They scare me... that's why I have never made any.MinusOne - 3100 - 4T60E

Dave I also have a crank pulley you could use, it's actually the one from the 3500 (where is your original)? Granted I believe that the 3500's was a bit larger, it may be a bit lighter? I don't have both to compare but I am fairly sure they were a bit different...SpudFiles
