I used the tool brendan pictured because its much easier in my opinion... I don't mind the fulcrum style, but sometimes they are a bear, and also I don't know of 8mm studs to use, only the 10's unless of course you make your own with just a threaded rod or something...

Plus you cant just "finger tighten them" like in the picture...i had some that were stuck and didnt tap them first and almost ripped a hole in my hand when i slipped...they do work but not well. Make sure to use an air hold fixture too...it thread in the spark plug hole, hooks up to shop air, and pressurizes the cyl to keep the valves seated...of course make sure to do it at TDC of the compression

when i swapped the springs with the heads on the engine.

i did it with the particular cyl i was working on at TDC and had my handy magnetic pickup

holding the valve and by the off chance that it did fall into the cyl its not going

completely in, it still sits in the valve guide so its save able.

FYI dont buy the tool like i pictured from sears that POS was ready to fall apart like 4 springs away from me finishing, i barely finished.
when i was done that hunk of crap went back to sears.

i have a C clamp style one but thats only good with the head off the car. ill be getting a better quality one like i pictured this time around.

I bought that style spring compressor from sears, made by Lisle tools. It has a real handle unlike the knob pictured, and after a few dozen spring swaps it still works great.

x2 on using compressed air for keeping the valves up!

I bent the little clip on mine that falls in the notch that holds the handle from flying and hitting you in the face...so yah i might take it back and get another one

at least im not the only one that got a shitty one.

i think mine was the rivet or whatever the hell it is was breaking off so the thing that actually holds the spring retainer against the spring was breaking off.

lets just say it should have lasted more than 1 time. i only got one set of heads out of it. i barely kept it together long enough to get the heads done.

the one i had had like a T handle not the knob.

I would love to get a set of rockers by spring. If they really end up being about the same price as a cam, I think i will have to get a set.

                    • Well I'm down for a set.

Just have to decide which ratio.

I'm going to be at the SEMA show in a couple of weeks. Will these things be on display there?

                      Thanx

                      • I'm still waiting on a simulation with my setup to see if its worth the cost right now.

                        • If any of yall go to SEMA, they wont be on display, BUT go talk to the guys there, tell them you are talking with John at Scoggin Dickey, and tell them you are buying a set of the v6 rockers when they come out. If possible ask if billy is there. He is the guy that knows the most about what we are doing and the guy i talk to about all this. That way they will know that we are serious if a person is just going to approach them. Let them know how much they are needed and that there are alot out there that want them.

The first person that does this, ill cut them a deal. 1/2 price for the rocker set, but you have to prove to me that you talked to them. meaning i need name of the person YOU talked to,Then i need THEM to take your name down and to call me WITH YOUR NAME to verify that you did in fact talk to them at SEMA or PRI about these rockers. How does that sound to add some excitement to the game. If anyone else does it also, i might be able to do something for them, but this is for the FIRST PERSON ONLY...let the guys over on GAGT.com know also, ill post up a link to this thread. The first person that posts via timestamp on this post or PM's me that they talked to them, and then I call scorp and talk to them to verify, when these rockers come out, you are getting a 1/2 price set. I will try to get a good deal on the guys that go there and still talk to scorp though, just to get the ball moving faster.

On another note, If you call in to scorpion and ask to talk to Billy there, and then do the same thing. Tell Billy to take your name down and to email me, he has my email, if not its jginter@sdparts.com with your name. Then PM me or post/email to let me know. Then i will try to get your name on my list to get the rockers first, and possibly at a discount. Its nothing 1/2 price, but hey its a start.
