  • not true....if you are good enough you can do it through the wheel well on some of the fwd cars. ive done it.

plus this would give the rwd guys that are using the 3400/3500 uppers on their iron headed engines a boost too. they dont have a huge selection in cams. iirc we are roller and they are not. well yet.

and even when you arent on a max effort NA build....you can get more perf out of any cam (barring ptv problems) with the higher ratio rockers. this is an easy way to get bigger lift for more power than to go to an aggressive duration to keep the ramp rate descent.

      • I am unsure still. I need to know how much this will affect drivability with my current stage 2 N/A cam. Just wondering how much gain I will see and how much tuning I will need. With this info I will be better able to make a decision.

        • lift for the most part has no effect on drivability. you will prob see more off seat duration, but it is not going to add more than a couple degrees. it really isnt measured like that, but that is really the simplest way to put it. the only thing you would have to watch is coil bind. you may want to tune a little more on it, because it will have the chance to fill the cyl during the intake event and move more air. you could prob add more timing and it might change the VE a little, but seriously if you have a MAF, it should be able to compensate for that.

            • Well if that is the case then I am in about 90%. Just need a guess on power gain on top of my cam.

              • educated guess for 1.7 would say 5-10 across the entire operating range

guess with 1.8 is prob 10-15 ish.

staggered ratio would be good too, but kinda hard to say. real world results would depend on so much. cam selection, ramp rate, springs, head flow rate, intake flow rate, exhaust flow, tuning, engine management.

its really complex. ill say it like this. from what i have seen published and in real life, bolt on a .1 point change in rocker ratio can range anywhere from 5-10 over a stock valvetrain. IF you were using a ball style stamped steel rocker like the SBCs then its even more than that. esp if you jump from a 1.5/1.52 ratio to a 1.7

                • Well then count me in. If you have any advice on a stagger or sizes or anything I would really appreciate it. I am running ported heads and intakes with comp springs and SI valves on my 1393 cam, along with all the other bolt on stuff.

i would be interested in a 1.8 set. and there is no need for custom pushrods right ?

                            • Production date on the 8mm heads with 1.7 ratio?

I know I'll be taking at least one set of 6 for sure (working on a customer to buy a set of 12).
